WHAT IS SAFETY CULTURE?

Safety Culture encompasses the ways in which safety is managed in the workplace. It is formed by various factors including attitudes, beliefs, perceptions, policies and values related to safety. It reflects the commitment to safety at all levels in the organization and how safely members of the organization behave on a day-to-day basis.

Safety Culture is strongly influenced by upper-level management, but also by the behaviors of everyone in the organization.

BENEFITS OF USING A SAFETY CULTURE SURVEY

Using a Safety Culture Survey provides invaluable business intelligence for decision support around safety initiatives, culture, employer branding, employee engagement, and more. However, in order to understand and improve Safety Culture, it is necessary to ‘measure’ it.

HOW YOU CAN USE A SAFETY CULTURE SURVEY

Our Safety Culture Survey is made up of 3 sections:

  1. Employee feedback – a confidential online survey that takes 10-15 minutes and allows employees at all levels to rate their perceptions of safety behavior and practices in the organization.
  2. Safety practices checklist – Completed by a representative of the organization
  3. Safety incident data report – Submitted by a representative of the organization
Responses are correlated to provide a comprehensive report to measure the organization’s Safety Culture, understand where to implement changes, and monitor program success to improve the company’s safety culture with annual assessments.
